Our Projects
Athlete2Career is committed to assisting student-athletes in their transition from collegiate sports to professional careers. GamePlan is a comprehensive career transition program designed specifically for student-athletes, helping them leverage the skills they developed through sports into a successful career post-graduation. College athletics demand an immense amount of time and focus, often limiting opportunities for athletes to develop the career-building skills that other students gain during their academic years. GamePlan provides the necessary resources to help these athletes build their professional portfolios and successfully navigate the job market.
GamePlan Services

Resume-Building Workshop
Our workshops are tailored to help athletes translate their sports experiences into marketable skills on their resumes. We guide athletes on how to articulate their achievements, such as teamwork, leadership, and discipline—into professional skills that employers value. Through our hands-on approach, athletes will have a polished, employer-ready resume to present after completing our workshop.

Career Coaching
GamePlan offers individualized coaching sessions where athletes work with career coaches to identify their strengths and align them with career goals. We help student-athletes develop actionable plans that consider their unique skillsets, making the transition from sports to a professional career smoother and more intentional.

Networking Opportunities
Through networking events and online platforms, GamePlan connects athletes with industry professionals, recruiters, and mentors. We create spaces where student-athletes can build relationships, learn about career opportunities, and find guidance as they make the transition to the workforce.

Job Search Resources
We provide athletes with access to essential job search tools, interview preparation resources, and strategies tailored to the unique challenges athletes face. GamePlan ensures that student-athletes are well-equipped to navigate the job market with confidence and clarity.
Beyond the Game: Empowering Student-Athletes for Life
Empowering Student-Athletes to Thrive beyond Sports
The transition into the workforce can be overwhelming for student-athletes, who often feel unprepared to translate their sports background into professional skills. GamePlan ensures that these individuals have the confidence, capabilities, and connections needed to succeed in any industry. By highlighting transferable qualities such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, and time management, the program helps student-athletes recognize the value of their athletic experiences in professional environments.
According to the NCAA (2023), less than 2% of student-athletes go on to compete professionally, which means the vast majority must pivot to careers outside of sports. Career development programs like GamePlan are essential in preparing athletes for this transition—equipping them with tools to effectively communicate their strengths to employers and thrive in competitive job markets.
Supporting Universities and Athletic Departments
GamePlan collaborates with academic institutions and athletic departments to offer student-athletes a vital network of support. By assisting students in making a smooth transition, institutions improve their reputation, increase alumni engagement, and help athletes succeed professionally in the long run. Research indicates that student-athletes who receive career transition support are more likely to thrive post-graduation. For instance, Gallup (2020) found that 24% of NCAA student-athletes who graduated between 1990 and 2019 are thriving at the highest levels, compared to 19% of non-athletes. Additionally, 39% of NCAA student-athletes go on to earn an advanced degree, surpassing the 32% of non-athletes.
By partnering with GamePlan, universities not only enhance their support for student-athletes but also contribute to their long-term success and overall well-being.
Economic and Social Benefits
GamePlan doesn’t just benefit individual athletes, it contributes to broader economic and social outcomes as well. By reducing the post-graduation career gap for student-athletes, the program improves job placement, boosts workforce productivity, and enhances long-term job satisfaction. According to The Hechinger Report (2024), former college athletes are more likely than non-athletes to be employed full-time and report higher engagement in their workplaces, largely due to the soft skills honed through sports.
Additionally, GamePlan expands access to professional networks that many athletes miss out on due to intense athletic schedules. By creating these connections, the program strengthens community ties and promotes economic mobility—particularly for first-generation college students and underrepresented groups in the workforce.
Product Lifecycle & Milestone
GamePlan began with a simple idea: helping student-athletes who face unique challenges in building a post-graduation career due to the time constraints of their athletic commitments. We identified a gap and partnered with local colleges, businesses, and professionals to address this issue. The program began with core services such as resume-building workshops, one-on-one career coaching, and networking events. After launching a pilot version, we incorporated feedback to improve the program and introduce digital tools to connect athletes with professionals in innovative ways. Today, GamePlan continues to evolve, helping athletes prepare for life beyond sports with the confidence that their next steps are aligned with their career goals.
